About Us

The Wolverine Dog Training Club (WDTC) was established in 1956 by a group of people who shared a common interest in dog training. The Club, led by its officers who are elected yearly by the membership, holds monthly membership meetings, and supports several activities throughout the year.

WDTC is dedicated to promoting and encouraging obedience training – whether for a family dog, companion or for competition. WDTC holds several events throughout the year that bring dog lovers together to share in some fun.

Each year, WDTC holds two United Kennel Club (UKC) Obedience Trials in the Metropolitan Detroit area along with an APDT Rally Trial in February.

WDTC supports various non-profit animal organizations like Paws with a Cause and Leader Dogs for the Blind. We offer free obedience classes for puppies growing up to be Leader Dogs and service dogs.

The WDTC members are dedicated to making our club the best dog training club in the world! Our ability to provide a learning environment and total enjoyment for both dogs and their owners is evident in the success stories of those who have trained with us.

Our Instructors

WDTC’s instructors are volunteers who have earned one or more obedience and/or agility title with their own dogs. Each instructor must complete an apprenticeship training program that is conducted by the Club. Trainers attend seminars and workshops regularly, to provide students with the most up-to-date methods of obedience and agility training. Some of the WDTC instructors have become obedience judges and superintendents.
